Dr. Kenzo Kase, founder of the Kinesio Taping method, found through his clinical experience that joint pain resulted from the abnormality of muscles and myo-fascial tissues around the joint rather than from the joint itself. With this understanding, he developed and introduced Kinesio Taping in the 70's to correct abnormalities of muscles and myo-fascial tissues.
This type taping practice should be regarded more as a 'therapy' or 'methodology' than a taping technique.
Knowledge about the thickness, weight and flexibility of the skin were behind Dr. Kase's idea for a new material. The tape should be able to - transmit performance stimulation, healing information via the skin's own receptors. Were all behind the development of a high quality cotton material with a 100 percent medical grade acrylic adhesive. The new tape had the thickness, weight and flexibility of the skin. The manufacture of the tape also allows for breathing and circulation of air and sweat which allow longer application.
